Understanding mesotherapy
Placing small volumes directly into the skin allows ingredients to act where they are needed rather than relying on penetration from the surface. For skin, the usual aim is hydration, glow and improved texture.
The blend is selected by the dermatologist for your concern and skin type. It is a medical procedure, not a facial, and your history is checked for allergies and contraindications first.
Results are cumulative and temporary. A short course produces visible improvement, and maintenance sessions hold it.
This may suit you if
- Dull, dehydrated facial skin
- Pre-event glow with adequate lead time
- Early fine lines and loss of skin quality
- Scalp thinning, as part of a hair treatment plan
What happens at the clinic
- 1
Assessment and blend selection
Your concern and skin type are assessed, allergies are checked, and the appropriate blend is chosen.
- 2
Numbing
Topical anaesthesia is applied where needed; the needles used are very fine.
- 3
Micro-injections
Small volumes are injected across the treatment area in a grid pattern. The session takes 20 to 30 minutes.
- 4
Course and maintenance
Sessions are repeated every two to four weeks initially, then spaced out for maintenance.
Aftercare
- No makeup for the rest of the day where possible
- Avoid sauna, steam, swimming and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours
- Use gentle cleansing and sun protection
- Avoid actives for a few days as advised
Possible side effects
- Redness, small bumps and pinpoint bruising
- Allergic reaction to a component — uncommon, and history is checked beforehand
- Infection — uncommon with sterile technique
- Temporary results requiring maintenance
