How we approach body skin
Body acne is common and under-treated. It is aggravated by occlusion, sweat, friction from bags and gym clothing, and by hair and body products that stay on the skin. Treating it means addressing those alongside the medical plan.
Body pigmentation — underarms, inner thighs, neck folds, knuckles — has causes worth identifying, including friction, obesity, insulin resistance, hair removal methods and skin-lightening cream misuse. Peeling the surface without addressing the cause gives short-lived results.
Body skin tolerates stronger peels but heals more slowly than the face, so treatment intervals are longer and aftercare instructions are stricter.
What the first consultation involves
The affected areas are examined, contributing factors such as friction, products and any medical conditions are reviewed, and a combined home and in-clinic plan is set out.
