Understanding body skin rejuvenation
Body skin is often neglected until an event makes it visible. Rough upper arms, uneven neckline tone, dry legs and post-acne marks on the back all respond to treatment, but not overnight.
Because body skin turns over and heals more slowly, plans run over months rather than weeks, with sessions spaced three to four weeks apart.
Home care does much of the work between sessions, and a simple realistic routine is prescribed rather than an elaborate one that will not be followed.
This may suit you if
- Pre-wedding or pre-event body preparation
- Rough, bumpy or uneven-toned body skin
- Post-acne marks on the back and shoulders
- Dry, dull skin on the arms and legs
What happens at the clinic
- 1
Assessment and timeline
Areas of concern are assessed and a plan is built backwards from your event date where relevant.
- 2
Home routine
A simple regimen of cleansing, exfoliation and moisturising is prescribed, with sun protection for exposed areas.
- 3
In-clinic sessions
Body peels, microneedling or laser toning are scheduled according to the concern.
- 4
Review
Progress is reviewed and the final session is scheduled with a safe margin before any event.
Aftercare
- Moisturise daily, particularly after exfoliating treatments
- Sun protection on the neckline, arms and any exposed area
- Avoid waxing or hair removal immediately after sessions
- Schedule the last session with a margin before your event
Possible side effects
- Redness and flaking after sessions
- Post-inflammatory pigmentation on the body, which fades slowly
- Insufficient improvement if started too close to the event
