How we approach pigmentation
Patchy, uneven or darkened skin has several possible causes, and the treatment for one can worsen another. Melasma is hormone and light sensitive and needs long-term management. Sun spots respond well to laser and peels. Marks left by acne or eczema usually fade on their own with protection and time.
Indian skin pigments readily, which cuts both ways: it tans easily and it darkens easily after any inflammation, including from over-aggressive treatment. That is why the plan here is deliberately cautious and staged, with strength increased only when your skin has shown it tolerates the previous step.
Sun protection is not an add-on to pigmentation treatment; it is the treatment. No peel or laser will hold its result without it, and this is discussed properly rather than mentioned in passing.
What the first consultation involves
Your pigmentation is examined, its likely type identified, and any aggravating factors — sun exposure, hormones, skin-lightening creams, steroid misuse — are reviewed before treatment is planned.
